The comeback of Netflix's most-watched series, "Squid Game," has been confirmed.

Hwang Dong-hyuk, the show's director, writer, and executive producer, confirmed the show's comeback in a message to viewers, writing, "And now, Gi-hun returns."

"The Front Man is back. Season 2 is on the way."

Dong-hyuk also hinted at upcoming episodes, stating that the mystery salesperson who recruits needy players for the game show would return.

"It's possible that the man in the suit with ddakji is back."

The letter also stated that fans will meet Cheol-su, the "boyfriend" of Young-hee, the show's infamous robotic doll.

"It took 12 years to bring the first season of 'Squid Game' to life last year," the show's creator wrote in his letter, noting that the show deserved a second season due to the global attention it got. 'Squid Game,' on the other hand, just needed 12 days to become the most popular Netflix series ever."

"As the writer, director, and producer of 'Squid Game,' I have a lot of responsibility."

Greetings to fans all over the world. Thank you for taking the time to watch and enjoy our show... Return with us for a brand new round."

While Netflix has yet to confirm the show's specific release date, many "Squid Game" fans have expressed their excitement for a second season on social media.

What can you expect?

Hwang Dong-hyuk intimated in May that the second season of the show would be even more intense than the first.

In an interview with Variety, the show's creator indicated that the second season will explore if humanity can conquer all as a united front.

"Humanity will be put to the test once more through those games," he stated.

"I want to explore the issue, 'Is true human solidarity possible?" he added.

Dong-hyuk also mentioned that the separation between players was to blame for the high number of deaths in season one.

"I agree that there was a possibility that we could have seen more winners if they were capable of communicating to one another, of cooperating with one another," he continued.

SQUID GAME

"Squid Game" follows debt-ridden participants as they attempt to win £24 million by playing childhood games with a twist: if you lose, you die.

The show is the first Korean drama to reach number one on Netflix in the United States, and it has even sparked interest in learning Korean.

Many of the characters in the show are based on Dong-own hyuk's life, according to him.

The games were, in fact, typical children's games that Dong-hyuk had played as a child in Seoul.

Dong-hyuk, like show character Sang-woo, a struggling investment banker in the series, is a graduate of South Korea's renowned Seoul National University (SNU) who, despite his degree, has financial issues.

Like Gi-hun, Dong-hyuk was reared by a widowed mother and the low-income family resided in this type of semi-subterranean home.
