The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) strike, according to Prof. Kabiru Bala, vice chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, has made him feel down.

At a Kano Zone of ASUU meeting on Monday, the Don gave a speech.

Bala pointed out that the 140-day strike has had an impact on host communities' economies.

He pleaded with the government, ASUU, and other parties to take into account how the strike was affecting the populace.

More than 30,000 students at Ahmadu Bello University, according to Bala, spent at least N300 each on food.

Additionally, each of our more than 13,000 employees is responsible for providing daily meals for an average of three to five dependents.

"The strike has significant effects on security as well."

The strike, according to Bala, was also having an impact on lecture halls, classrooms, and laboratories.

"I feel like crying when I look between the Engineering Department complex and the ABU Senate Building since no one is using the amenities."

The VC lamented, "These are government-provided facilities, yet they have been vacant for months."
